In my heart

One left hand reaching for one right hand, fingers brushing lightly, then pressing more against each other, fitting so perfectly. One pair of eyes looking down, desperately searching for the smallest grain of dust, the other pleading, watching the top of one head in a silent prayer.

Body moves, closer, only one step, one small shuffle of a foot. The other leans in, head falls against the chest, hands still only comparing the length of their fingers. Seconds pass, minutes do too, there is silence, just a breath mingled with a heartbeat. The hand finally gives up, slides to the wrist of its companion, squeezes and moves, slowly drags up, giving an elbow a slight pinch, never wavering on its way to the shoulder, to the neck, the head on the chest, into the hair, finally pulling, making the eyes reach the pleading ones.

The prayer heard. The eyes met. The life changed. An embrace completed.
