You waited, called... I was in irons,
And vainly did my soul rebel,
Becalmed in those uncouth environs
By passion's overpowering spell.

Yet why this sorrow? Toward what fastness
Would now my carefree sails be spread?
To one lone goal in all your vastness
My spirit might have gladly sped.
A.S. Pushkin

I have been posting too much of nothing lately. I had a resolution not to post today … well here I am.

Today after my work in vineyards was done I went to a poetry reading after a long time. Different authors, mostly young ones, read their own works. It was definitely interesting. I went with a good friend of mine, who writes. We used to meet up and read each other´s stuff but in this department he had outgrown me long time ago and after high school we weren´t able to keep the meetings up for more than a year. I was so glad to talk to him properly after some time.

After listening to those poets, I feel that not only my English word bank is totally shallow; my Slovak one is as well. I mean the active one. I also feel like taking the real pen into my hand and try again. Maybe I will, although I am a complete amateur and I like rhythm too much in the light of free verse fashion of these days. Well I do write only for my own stress relief and satisfaction so that won´t matter once I face piece of white paper again.

What bugged me a little though is that sometimes, at least to me, it sounded like the poem, the art, was done only for sake of the art and with nothing much to say. Maybe I am wrong but I like poetry to leave an impression, not only for it to be a scramble of word plays with no beginning and no end, with no imaginary. But then again, as I said I am an old school. I like Pushkin´s poems for god´s sake!

I can´t forget.[livejournal.com profile] jerainbowbridge has started putting the fics up!!! If you are in need of something cute, go over there, you will definitely find some. Also the pairings are really totally intergroup and unexpected. I am so glad they posted early in the day so I got to read some!

Wah I aslmot didn't recognize the icon, even if you told me about the post.
Reading now...like I said, you need/are allowed to rant just like I always do. You're welcome to disable but I forbid you to.
Poetry and reading in general is so not my cup of tea but I guess you being a writer in your own time means you have some skill to recognize something good or on the contrary, souless.
